The Manor Royal BID has submitted its response to Crawley Borough Council’s Economic Vision and Growth Plan for Crawley.
The Vision and Growth Plan sets out a vision for how the town’s economic success can be built upon by strengthening our economy, supporting local jobs and skills, improving connectivity, and creating a more sustainable and vibrant place to live and work.
The role of Manor Royal Business District is well positioned in the document to which the Manor Royal BID has now responded to reinforce some keys points concerning the needs of the business district, for both the Council and the incoming Sussex and Brighton Combined Authority.
Steve Sawyer, Manor Royal BID Executive Director said: “Over the years we have forged a very strong relationship with both West Sussex County and Crawley Borough Councils that has directly led to many notable improvements to the area. With the changes we are about to see to local government, it is a timely opportunity for us to remind our public partners of the importance of the business district and the Manor Royal BID in improving and maintaining it. The place has changed enormously since 2013 but there is still much to do and it is important that we look to build on what we’ve stated, to seriously consider the opportunities that lie ahead and to recognise the reliance that has built up on the Manor Royal BID to both drive change and to maintain this special place.”
The document serves as a powerful statement on the economic value of Crawley, including Manor Royal, poses some interesting about strategic land allocations, connectivity and the need to grow the economy in ways that are sustainable and that local people can play a full part in and benefit from. The Manor Royal BID broadly endorses the plan while taking the opportunity to guard against complacency, to consider the reliance that has grown up on the BID while remaining ambitious for the area and the town as a whole.
