HISTORY & HERITAGE OF MANOR ROYAL

Crawley has long been associated with trade and industry, even before it was designated as one of the original new towns. However, it was the period from 1946 that marked the most remarkable rise of Crawley as a major economic driver.

Below is a short presentation movie showing the creation, development and future growth of Manor Royal Crawley, produced by HH Design.

A bold vision

The vision for the new town was bold and one that was to set the context for Manor Royal's rise from little more than a field as part of a rich landowner's estate to an official royal naming and now a major driver in the south east economy.

The rise of the economic powerhouse

Manor Royal's growth and development was rapid. Soon after Princess Elizabeth officially named it in 1950, Manor Royal became a prime location to many global household name occupiers. What was to be a place of skilled employment for 8,500 local people had become home to 30,000 jobs. What was to support business from six or seven key industries had attracted 500 businesses from numerous sectors. What started as a traditional manufacturing base had evolved, adapted and diversified allowing today's occupiers to source a full range of supplies and services from within Manor Royal itself.

Today Manor Royal is one of the biggest and best performing business areas in the South East, a place where you can think it, make it, store it and move it. Whatever your business, you can probably do it in Manor Royal.
