“Sign up to have your say”: Manor Royal businesses urged

The Manor Royal BID is encouraging companies in the Business District to make sure their voice is heard at its annual general meeting.

The BID company, MRBD Limited, has given notice that its AGM will take place from 5pm on Wednesday 30 September at the Premier Inn, in Fleming Way, but only registered members of the company are entitled to attend. This will be the second AGM of the BID Company that came into being on June 2013 following a vote from businesses that lead to its formation.

The BID's Executive Director, Steve Sawyer, has urged firms to ensure they are a member of the company so that they not only get an invite to the meeting but also can vote.

"The Manor Royal BID is approaching the half way point of its first five year term and many of our capital projects are now being delivered," said Mr Sawyer. "But it's only registered members of the BID company that can vote and determine how the BID levy is invested. It is a free and straightforward process to become a member of the company and I would encourage all levy-paying companies to make sure they don't miss out on having their say."

The work of the BID, Mr Sawyer explained, is informed by an agreed business plan that companies voted for, and the AGM is an important event where the progress against the plan is discussed and accounted for.

The Manor Royal BID, funded by contributions from Manor Royal companies, has also driven forward a number of improvement projects in the last two years. "The BID's success at working with other key partners and attracting additional investment to the area has been central to a number of initiatives designed to improve the trading and working environment across the Business District," Mr Sawyer continued.

"As well as reflecting on year two of the Manor Royal BID, attendees at the AGM will hear from the chairman and about plans for year three. An announcement will also be made concerning one of the BID's major projects."

Businesses can register to become a member of MRBD Limited by contacting the BID office on Details may also be found on the Manor Royal website, along with the AGM agenda and minutes of last year's meeting.
