The BID in Preview
Eighty-plus business representatives from across Manor Royal gathered at Virgin's The Base on 10th July to hear about the first projects and initiatives to be delivered by the Manor Royal Business Improvement District (BID).
Those in attendance were among the first to find out about the founding board of directors, the structure of the BID company (MRBD Limited) and most importantly what it intended to deliver in its first year.
Details of indvidual projects, partnerships and initiatives will be published on the BID Projects page of the Manor Royal website. Until then the presenstation from the event is available to view.
Delegates were reminded that the BID was approved in May 2013. This now means that businesses in the area will make a contribution each year for five years to a central fund, controlled by the businesses, to reinvest in Manor Royal for the benefit of businesses and staff.
Interested parties from Manor Royal were urged to get involved as that was the best and only way for the BID to be a success. Only by becoming involved and engaging in the BID could businesses shape what it does and realise the full benefits.
Among the questions from the floor concern was raised about parking, inward investment, empty sites, reducing costs of doing business by working collectively and how the BID could intervene, including the potential it had to lever additional funding to the area.
