Planning Permission Needed for Housing on Manor Royal
Crawley Borough Council has confirmed the two Article 4 Directions at Manor Royal, which came into force on Friday (29th July 2016). With these Directions now in force, the permitted development rights that had allowed offices (B1a) and storage & distribution (B8) use to change to residential use (C3) are now removed.
This means that planning permission will now be required for any such change of use offering far greater protection from the inappropriate incursion of housing on Manor Royal and sending a clear message about promoting Manor Royal as a business destination and employment centre.
Steve Sawyer, Executive Director of the Manor Royal BID said, “This is something the Manor Royal BID, and other business groups, has been campaigning for some time. We are delighted with this outcome and the approach the sensible action the Council has taken.”
