Gatwick Road footbridge repair
Preliminary dates have been arranged for the temporary removal of the footbridge that spans Gatwick Road so that it can be repaired.
Subject to confirmation by the Street Works team, the bridge will be lifted out and taken away for repair on the evenings of the Saturday 21st May and Sunday 22nd May.
This will involve road closures and vehicle diversions during this time, although it is hoped by undertaking the work at night the disruption will be limited.
The bridge is expected to be off-site for approximately 12 weeks before being reinstated
The bridge that forms part of Gateway 1, one of the main entrance ways to the Business District, was damaged approximately 18 months ago following a collision causing it to be closed.
In the meantime, West Sussex County Council has been liaising with the Manor Royal BID to investigate options for replacing the bridge.
This complements the wider project being undertaken by the Manor Royal BID to improve the first and last impressions for the thousands of visitors that use Gateway 1 every day.
More details will be made available once the application has been processed.
