Howzat?! Businesses invited to join Manor Royal Mayhem

Doosan Babcock, based in the Crawley Business Quarter, is hoping to set up a Manor Royal cricket league for 2016.

The specialist construction group played three matches over the summer against fellow Manor Royal firms and wants to hear from other businesses interested in taking part in a competition called Manor Royal Mayhem.

In their first match against Elekta, Doosan were comfortably beaten but fell only a few runs short of the total set by the cancer technology firm in their second outing. 

In the second match, played at Faygate on July 8, Elekta won the toss and batted first, scoring 143/5 in their 20 overs. in reply, Doosan could only manage 126/4 and lost by 17 runs. The top scorer for Doosan was Bipul Dasgupta with 27 with the leader wicket takers being C.A. Thomas and Raj Dasgupta with figures of 1 for 15.

Doosan did, however, manage to claim a 26-run victory over CGG, situated in Crompton Way, in their Twenty20 game on July 16. Bipul Dasgupta top scored again for Doosan with 26 runs and also took 2 for 16 with the ball. Mark Elliot was the top wicket taker with 2 for 23.

All three sides also played games against Gatwick Airport-based Schlumberger. In this match, played at West Green Cricket Field on July 22, Doosan won the toss and batted first. After scoring 111 all out in 20 overs, Doosan went onto restrict Schlumberger to 107/7 and win by four runs. The top scorer for Doosan was James Banner with 43. Mark Elliot was the leading wicket taker for Doosan with figures of 4 for 23.
