Advance warning of planned work

Advance warning of planned work

Plans to improve one of the Business District's major entrance ways and begin work on installing the new area-wide sign system are about to become a reality.

Installation and construction work associated with both these projects are about to start and this might cause some disruption.

Details of both projects, including traffic management arrangements, are contained in this special bulletin.

Please get in touch with the BID Office if you have any questions and share with colleagues, friends and neighbours.

Gateway 3 Upgrade (on the London Road A23 roundabout at the Betts Way and Fleming Way junction)

Construction work will begin on Monday 14th March and last between four and six weeks. Traffic Management (cones and signs) will be laid out on Sunday night (13th March 2016). There will be no road closures during this time however the road around the roundabout will be reduced to one lane as will parts of the roads leading to the roundabout. We have worked with SSE to co-ordinate other planned works to lighting in the area to ensure disruption to visitors, businesses and staff is minimised. We are grateful to SSE for their co-operation in this matter.

Wayfinding and signage

Work to begin the installation of the area-wide wayfinding and signage project begins on Monday, 21st March and will last between four and six weeks. Much of this work takes place in areas not requiring road closures or traffic management, so should cause minimal disruption. Two of the large entrance welcome signs do require traffic management and will be taking place during the evening to prevent disruption.
